Offline Word Game: Play Without Internet
An offline word game is one you can play while your phone has no internet connection, checking every word against a dictionary stored on the device. In KeliMax, the Play Offline card on the home screen opens three games: Word League, played against the computer; Word Journey, where the rules change at every level; and Word Hunt, where you search a letter grid for hidden words. None of them need a connection; online matches, Room Mode and the Daily Challenge do.
When is a word game without internet useful?
Any time the signal is weak or you would rather not use it: on a plane, on the subway, in a tunnel, on a long bus ride, abroad with mobile data switched off, or at the end of the month when your data allowance is running low. Not needing a constant connection turns waiting time into a short workout for your brain. And a dropped connection can't interrupt the game, because both your opponent and the dictionary live on your phone.
One thing to be clear about: the offline games are separate from KeliMax's online side. The Word League here is not the same as the online leagues: the whole match runs on your phone, against the opponent built into the app. When you want to play an online match, you start a regular match while connected.
The three games you can play offline in KeliMax
Tap the Play Offline card and you will find three games, each suited to a different style of play:
- Word League — The classic word game on a 15×15 board, played against the computer. Its 50 levels are split into 10 leagues of five levels each, and your opponent plays stronger moves as you advance. It is open from day one.
- Word Journey — An 84-level adventure you progress through on a map. Each level adds a special rule to the board: locked squares, a time limit, a target score to reach, a minimum word length, double points for vowels, or a set number of words to play.
- Word Hunt — A puzzle where you swipe across a letter grid to find hidden words. Its 100 levels are split into five chapters, and the grid grows from 6×6 to 14×14. In the first chapter words hide only horizontally and vertically, then diagonally too, and finally in every direction. The first two chapters are untimed; later ones have a time limit.
Word League is open to everyone straight away. Word Journey unlocks when your player level reaches 5 and Word Hunt at level 10; you earn the experience points for levelling up in online matches. The lock screen in the app shows which level each mode opens at.
How to play offline, step by step
- Download KeliMax for free from the App Store or Google Play. Doing it before you set off is all it takes.
- Open the app and tap the Play Offline card on the home screen.
- Pick a game from the list: Word League, Word Journey or Word Hunt.
- In Word League, tap the next level on the map; you can play in English or Turkish.
- Place a word on the board with your tiles; it is checked instantly against the dictionary on your phone, then it is the computer's turn.
- Need to stop halfway? No problem: Word League and Word Journey save your game, so you pick up where you left off.
If you open the app without internet, the home screen adapts: the games you can play offline move to the front, and the sections that need a connection stay locked until you are back online. That way you never have to guess what works in airplane mode.
How are words checked without internet?
The dictionary ships inside the app. The English dictionary on your phone holds 267,751 words and the Turkish one 64,656. When you place a word, its validity is checked on the phone itself rather than on a server, so word checking works just as fast in airplane mode.
Your computer opponent uses the same dictionary, so every word it plays is one you could play too. The words it plays that you didn't know are a useful part of offline practice: the next time the same letters land on your rack, you can use them yourself.
Will you lose your progress?
No. When you play offline, your progress is stored on your phone first. Once the internet is back, your Word Journey and Word Hunt levels and stars are sent to your account, and if you sign in with the same account on another device your best star ratings are kept. Your Word League progress also syncs with your account when you reconnect. If you play as a guest, registering before you switch devices is the safest way to bring your progress with you.
How offline practice prepares you for online matches
Word League is played on a 15×15 board with premium squares, just like online matches. That makes it a pressure-free training ground: you can practise putting high-value letters on letter multipliers (DL, TL), avoiding opening word multipliers (DW, TW) to your opponent, and squeezing two- and three-letter words into tight spots. Word Journey's rules push you out of your habits; a level with a minimum word length, for example, forces you to look for longer words. Word Hunt works a different muscle: it trains you to spot words in strings of letters faster.

Frequently asked questions
Can you play KeliMax offline?
Yes. Word League, Word Journey and Word Hunt under Play Offline work without a connection. Online matches, Room Mode and the Daily Challenge need internet.
Can I play on a plane or in airplane mode?
Yes. Because the dictionary is on your phone, word checking works in airplane mode too. You just need to have downloaded the app before you travel.
Who is my opponent in offline mode?
In Word League and Word Journey you play against the computer, and the difficulty rises as you progress. Word Hunt has no opponent; you race the grid and, on later levels, the clock.
Do the offline games cost anything?
No. KeliMax is free to download and offers optional in-app purchases. You don't need to pay to play the offline games; the locked ones open as your player level rises.
